For example và for instance có cùng nghĩa. Chúng thường được dùng làm từ chuyển ý

3. There are many interesting places to visit in the city, e.g., the botanical garden and the art museum.

4. There are many interesting places to visit in the city, for example, the botanical garden or the art museum.

Câu (3) và (4) có cùng nghĩa.

e.g. = ví dụ (e.g. là dạng viết tắt của cụm từ Latin: exempli gratia.)

5. I prefer to wear casual clothes, such as jeans and a sweatshirt.

6. Some countries, such as Brazil and Canada, are big.

7. Countries such as Brazil and Canada are big.

8. Such countries as Brazil and Canada are big.

Lưu ý cách chấm câu:

Khi "cụm từ such as" có thể được bỏ đi mà không thay đổi đáng kể nghĩa của câu thì ta dùng các dấu phẩy.

Ví dụ: Some words, such as know and see, are verbs.

Không dùng các dấu phẩy khi "cụm từ such as" nêu thông tin quan trọng về danh từ mà nó đề cập

Ví dụ: Words such as know and see are verbs.
