Television is one of man’s most important means of communication. It brings pictures and sounds from around the world into millions of homes. A person with a television set can sit in his house, and he can watch the president make a speech or visit a foreign country. He can see a war happening and watch statesmen try to bring about peace. Through television, home viewers can see and learn about people, places, and things in far-away lands. Television also provides more entertainment programs than any other kind. The programs include plays or dramas, light comedies, sporting events, and motion pictures. So television now plays an important role in many people lives. It is more convenient as well as cheaper for people to sit comfortably at home than to go out.

Linda sống một mình ở Luân Đôn, cùng với bộ sưu tập tuyệt vời của mình. Cô đã và đang sưu tập các kỷ vật thuộc hoàng gia từ năm 1960 khi cô xem lễ cưới của công chúa Margarett trên ti vi. Trò đó làm cô vui hàng giờ, và các du khách, chủ yếu là du khách nước ngoài. Không hề chán nói về gia đình Hoàng tộc của cô. Thật không dễ dàng gì cho Linda để sưu tầm những thứ mà cô thật sự muốn. Có lần cô ở một cửa tiệm và chủ tiệm đang uổng trà bằng chiếc cốc có hình lễ đáng quang. (Bài viết dựa ữên sự tham khảo bài nghe hiểu mục Listening của Unit 13) My hobby is reading. I read story books, magazines, newspapers and any kind of material that I find interesting. I started reading when I was a little girl. I used to ask my father to read fairy tales. Then I learned to read. At first I read simple books, then stories. Now I read everything. I love reading novels. Even I can read short stories in English, especially I’m interested in reading funny stories. Through reading, I can learn about many things: how people live, how things go on everywhere in the world. Books provide me with necessary information and facts. I don’t have to learn things the hard way. The books have certainly helped me so much in my daily life. Books would be my life-long friends. I would never stop reading them in my life.
