Indefinite pronouns: one(s), no one, anyone, someone, everyone

Đại từ phiếm định: one(s), no one, anyone, someone, everyone 

1/ One, ones

Ta dùng đại từ one(s) trong câu đề tránh lặp lại danh từ đếm được đã dùng trước đó. 

Ex: Which tie are you going to wear?

- The one (the tie) that matches my new jacket.

Which glasses do you prefer? The green ones (glasses) or the brown ones (glasses)?

2/ Someone, anyone, no one, everyone.

a) Someone, everyone, no one are singular words.

Someone, anyone, no one là các đại từ số ít.

• Someone usually means “an unspecified or unknown person”, it’s used in affirmative sentences.

Someone có nghĩa là một người nào đó (không biết rõ) và được dùng trong câu xác định.

Ex: Someone wants to see you.

Somebody asks to speak to you on the phone.

• Anyone is used in negative (not...anyone) and question structures.

Anyone được dùng trong câu phủ định (với not ... anyone) và câu hỏi.

Ex: Is anyone / anybody there?

- No, there isn’t anyone / anybody there.

Anyone còn có nghĩa là bất cứ ai, và được dùng trong câu xác định. Ex: Anyone will tell you where the house is.

• No one can be used with affirmative verbs to express a negative.

No one / Nobody được dùng trong câu xác định để diễn tả ý phủ định.

Ex: No one / Nobody came here yesterday.

No one / Nobody has ever given me a free ticket for nothing.

• Everyone + singualr verb is prefered to all people.

Ex: Everyone is ready. (=All the people are ready.)
