Water is very necessary to people and other living things. Without water, people, animals and plants cannot live. And if there were no plants, water would run off after it rains; and this would cause a lot of Hoods. But nature has many ways of conserving and controlling water. Water can be held on the land by planting vegetation. Forests and grass should be planted where there are no natural growths. Dams built across rivers help hold back the water. Reservoirs behind the dams store water during wet seasons for use in dry seasons. Dams help prevent floods by controlling the flow of water.

Không khí, nước và đất đều cần thiết cho sự tồn tại của tất cả sinh vật. Không khí bị ô nhiễm nặng có thể gây ra bệnh tật, thậm chí là chết. Nước bị ô nhiễm giết hết cá và các sinh vật dưới nước. Sự ô nhiễm đất sẽ làm giảm số lượng đất có đề trồng lương thực, vấn đề ô nhiễm rất phức tạp vì nhiều ô nhiễm là do những thứ tạo tiện ích cho con người gây ra. Chẳng hạn như khói thải từ xe hơi là nguyên nhân của một số lớn ô nhiễm không khí. Nhưng xe hơi cung cấp việc vận chuyển cho hàng triệu người. Các nhà máy thải ra chất gây ô nhiễm không khí và nước, nhưng nhà máy lại cung cấp việc làm cho rất nhiều người. Như vậy để chấm dứt hay làm giảm ô nhiễm ngay lập tức, con người phải ngưng sử dụng nhiều thứ có lợi cho họ. Ô nhiễm có thể được làm giảm dần theo nhiều cách. Các nhà khoa học và các kỳ sư đang tìm cách đế làm giảm sổ lượng ô nhiễm mà xe hơi và nhà máy gây ra. 2. Badly polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. Pollution of soil reduces the amount of land that is available for growing food.

4. They would have to stop using many things that benefit them.

5. Governments can pass and enforce laws that require business and individuals to stop, or cut down on certain polluting activities.

We are trying to find solutions to environmental pollution problem. People should stop cutting trees for timber. Instead, they should plant more trees and forests. They should reduce using cars and motorbikes that cause noise and air pollution. We should prevent farmers from using fertilizers and pesticides that damage the soil. People should not litter on the land .and in the water. We should prohibit factories from dumping industrial wastes into rivers and lakes. It is high time governments over the world had measures that require companies and individuals to stop or cut down on polluting activities.
