A national park is a large piece of land. In the park, animals are free to come and go. Trees and plants grow everywhere. People go to a national park to enjoy nature. Many people stay in campgrounds in national parks. They sleep in tents and cook their food over campfires. They also walk on trails or paths in the park.

Yellowstone is the world's oldest nationl park. It became a national park in 1872. it is also the world’s largest park.

Yellowstone is famous for its geysers. These holes in the ground shoot hot water into the air. There are about seventy gersers in the park. The most famous is Old Faithful. About every hour Old Faithful shoots hot water hundreds of feet into the air.

Two-and-a-half million people visit this beautiful park each year. Visitors are not allowed to pick the flowers. They must not feed or hunt the animals, either.

Bảo tồn thiên nhiên là việc bảo vệ và quản lý môi trường một cách khôn ngoan. Con người thực hiện bảo tồn thiên nhiên để môi trường có thể duy trì nhu cầu của họ cũng như cùa tất cả các sinh vật khác. Nếu con người không thực hiện bảo tồn thiên nhiên, mọi nguồn tài nguyên cần thiết cho sự sống như không khí, động vật, năng lượng, khoáng sản, thực vật, đất và nước đều sẽ bị tổn hại, lãng phí hoặc hủy diệt.

Bảo tồn thiên nhiên còn là việc quan tâm đến chất lượng môi trường, để con người có thể hưởng thụ cuộc sống. Điều này có nghĩa là chúng ta giữ cho môi trường lành mạnh và an toàn và là một nơi đáng để sống. Một môi trường lành 

mạnh bao gồm đường phổ sạch sẽ với không gian thoáng đãng trong công viên hay sân chơi ở thành phố. Môi trường lý tưởng là cảnh quan không có rác thải. Môi trường cũng bao gồm cả nhừng khu bảo tồn hoang dã nơi động thực vật được bảo vệ khỏi sự tàn phá của con người.
