Ở các quốc gia khác nhau có nhiều phong tục thú vị trong cách tổ chức mừng năm mới. Cũng có các phong tục mừng năm mới do những người theo đạo ở Mỹ và nơi khác trên thế giới thực hiện.

Ở Tây Ban Nha và Bồ Đào Nha, người ta tụ họp ngay trước giao thừa và chọn 12 quả nho từ một chùm nho lớn. Khi đồng hồ điểm giờ năm mới, mỗi người ăn 12 quả nho và chúc may mắn cho mọi người. 12 quả nho tượng trưng cho 12 tháng trong năm.

Ở Iran, ngày đầu năm mới được gọi là No-Ruz. Nó bắt đầu vào ngày 21 tháng 3 và kéo dài 13 ngày. No-Ruz là khoảng thời gian vui vẻ hạnh phúc vì mùa đông vừa kết thúc và mùa xuân đang bắt đầu. Mỗi thành viên trong gia đình thường đọc kinh Koran, và sau đó ôm nhau và nói “Chúc bạn sống lâu 100 tuổi!”

Tet is one of the most important traditional holiday in our country. It celebrates the Lunar New Year. Actually Tet starts on the first day of the lunar year, however people always prepare for it well in advance. The house is usually cleaned and decorated with beautiful things such as flowers and pictures. Peach flowers and kumquat trees are very typical at Tet. Almost every house has at least either peach flowers and kumquat trees, some even have both in their houses at Tet. During Tet people enjoy traditional foods such as Banh Chung, fruit jam,... On the first day of the Lunar New Year, people often go to pagodas or churches then they visit their relatives. I enjoy Tet holidays because we often have “lucky money” at Tet and we can get up later than usual. The only thing I don’t like at Tet is that the weather is wet and cold.
