Ngoài ra, còn có các tổ chức độc lập khác đã được lập ra để giải quyết các công việc chuyên môn hàng ngày của Liên Hiệp Quốc.
Một trong các đặc tính cơ bản của hệ thống Liên Hiệp Quốc là tính trách nhiệm. Chẳng hạn, vì không có khả năng kiểm soát hay ảnh hưởng tới Hội đồng Kinh tế và Xã hội nên các nước thành viên LHQ thuộc thế giới thứ ba đã lập ra Hội nghị Liên Hiệp Quốc về Thương mại và Phát triển để giải quyết các vấn đề cụ thể mà Hội đồng Kinh tế và Xã hội không giải quyết.[1]

Ban Hành pháp có nhiệm vụ họp những người đứng đầu các tổ chức trong hệ thống chung Liên Hiệp Quốc, dưới sự chủ tọa của Tổng Thư ký LHQ.
