Bài 1:

There are a lot of activities that you can do in your leisure time. Some people are so tired of work that they prefer to use their free time just for resting and sleeping. Others spend their free time on their favourite activities. For example, they listen to music, play their favourite musical instrument, go on a picnic, take a trip, go to the nature and enjoy the fresh air, hang out with their friends, go partying, go shopping, visit their relatives, spend some time with their kids and play games with them, read and write, watch TV, watch movies or cartoons, go to the theatre, surf the net, cook, do some gardening, etc.  Some people like me choose sports to enjoy their free time. Among different kinds of sports, I prefer basketball.

When you play basketball with your team mates you have a chance to get rid of all the negative energies that are piled up in you throughout work or study time. Your body is wholly involved. Basketball involves both your mind and your body. It’s an extremely physical activity, so that even your finger tips have to be strong. In basketball you need both stamina and speed to be a successful player. It’s not that important if you’re not tall. Your strength is of much more importance.  Both feet and hands must be strong. Even you need to be wise in this game. If you know where to stand so that your rival has a weak chance of blocking you, you’ll more successfully get close to the basket to shoot and score. Sometimes, by being wise and finding the right place to stand and block the rival saves your team.

Basketball is a team work and this is what I like the most about this sport. You learn how to cooperate with other team mates. Sometimes, you need to sacrifice yourself by blocking the rival so that your team mate can find space to go to the basket and score. Passing the ball to other members of your team makes the chance of winning higher and higher.

All in all, basketball is so enjoyable and fun if you play it in a group, not individually.

Bài 2:

Leisure time has become a crucial part of the modern life as this is the period for the recovery of the human body. Yet, the best way to use spare time still has to be determined as some people are interested in mind-improving activities while others simply wish to rest.

It is not surprising that a high number of people engage in activities that involve the mind. One of the reasons is that activities such as reading books or playing puzzles is helpful for them. For example, people can apply knowledge obtained from novels, especially detective novels, into the reality as these books not only entertain but also teach people to solve difficult situations. Another explanation for this trend could be that it helps people to escape from the boredom stemming from daily routines. The excitement and feeling of victory are indeed very useful in recharging the energy people need for work and life in general.

However, there also exist individuals who prefer a complete rest during leisure time. Perhaps the most obvious reason is that their minds are already heavily occupied during occupation, and thus, there is little energy left for highly intellectual activities. In fact, these activities could be harmful as people can surfer from stress and exhaustion. As a consequence, mind-challenging activities can result in reduced work performance and also quality of life. For these people, light activities such as listening to music or watching films could be a better choice.

To summarize, I am strongly convinced that the selection of activities during leisure time should depend on people’s own preferences and needs. Mind-improving activities and quiet resting are both useful in their own ways, and people should choose the kinds of activity that can help them relax the most.

Bài 3:

Some people think that it is important to use leisure time for activities that develop the mind, such as reading and doing crossword puzzles. Others feel that it is important to give one’s mind a rest in leisure time. Discuss.

As we are human we naturally need to rest on leisure time to recover thestress of work and everyday life. In fact, every individual need to do what they want and belong to them. Personally, I prefer to be active during this time because it is feel right to me better. Moreover, people are free for what they do on their leisure time, and nobody can say what it is the best.

Some people want to relax after their day of work. These people may prefer to relax by watching movies, reading or getting a massage. People who have a physically jobs such as doctors, teachers and builders may choose these types of activities. If you are a doctor, you may feel that you want to let your body rest after work and you don’t want to do a five kilometer run after work, because you are already physically tired.

On the other hand, some people choose to be active in their leisure time because they do very sitting jobs. For example, these people many spend all day sitting on a chair and do their work. At the end of a working day, they may be have a backache, and all of their body become tired so they need to stretch their arms and improve their health by doing some activity such as going to the gym or swimming.

To sum up, the important thing is that people want to stay healthy by choosing what is best for them. In my view, the wrong way is to stay at home in your leisure time if you have a setting job.

Bài 4:

Leisure time is necessary for people after working and studying hard, and there are various recreation activities to do base on oneself purpose. Many people support the methods helping the mind getting better, while others endorse the thinking to rest in free time, but it is more effective if we take part in outside activities.

It is true that people can improve their personal ability by practicing pursuits improving the mind. By doing the word puzzles, this activity helps us raise the logical thinking and solve problems at work more effectively. On the other hand, we can wider our knowledge and absorb more information from many kind of books, the mental health will be better.

Standing at the other view, putting the mind at rest by enjoying media entertainment, people reduce the stress. After long day at work or school, we usually feel tired and need to relax. There are many channels such as watching films, listening music and playing games, our mind will balance again.

However, the pursuits of two sorts above have some disadvantages, such as we feel more stressful when practicing the mind or to be not conscious if using electronic entertaining methods, we should take outdoor actions. When enjoying outside events, for instance, doing exercise or playing sports bring about our physical health will be better, the mind will be refreshed and having energies for new works.

In summary, doing activities, improving our mind in leisure time will enhance our thinking but perhaps, also lead to feeling more stressful. Meanwhile, laying the mind to rest helping us reduce work’s pressure, however, we can feel graver. Personally, participating in outside pursuits is good for both metal and physical health.
